Humanities Vision

Our vision is for all pupils to engage meaningfully with the Humanities subjects in order to become ethical, informed citizens of Wales and the wider world. Through exploring human experiences in local, national and global contexts, pupils will develop an understanding of their heritage, a strong sense of place and an awareness of both historical and contemporary issues.

Pupils will consider a wide range of values, beliefs and perspectives, developing the ability to respectfully engage with, question and challenge different viewpoints. They will also gain an understanding of democratic processes and their rights and responsibilities, preparing them to participate confidently in society and the world of work as creative and enterprising individuals.

We aim to build secure knowledge and understanding across geographical, historical, religious and non-religious, social and business concepts through engaging learning experiences both in and beyond the classroom. Pupils will use a variety of enquiry methods to investigate issues, evaluate evidence and communicate their findings, supporting the development of critical thinking and lifelong learning skills.

By discussing ethical challenges, social inclusion and personal perspectives, pupils will build independence, confidence and self-esteem, helping them to become healthy, confident individuals who are ready to lead fulfilling lives and contribute positively to society.
