White Ribbon Day 2020

White Ribbon Day is is taking place on Wednesday 25th November.

White Ribbon Day is annual event that marks the United Nation’s International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and aims to raise awareness and work towards ending male violence towards women. Our annual community walk cannot be completed due to the pandemic, instead we are continuing to work with our partners across Gwent to raise awareness of *149 women who were killed by a former spouse or partner in 2018 , and almost all of them were committed by a man known to the victim.

The #149Challenge encourages people to take part in activities which can be completed in their own time and if outdoors whilst adhering to social distancing guidelines.

Thank you to those who have been tweeting about, meeting and planning a #149Challenge. We are delighted to see schools, organisations and clubs pledging support with innovative and exciting challenges, but we still need your help. Please continue to share the information with your networks to get many more people, sports organisations, businesses, groups involved.

Attached is an overview of what is happening across Gwent, this could be used as inspiration to set your own challenge or to provide other organisations, groups with ideas. Pledge cards are also attached which could printed out and used to pledge support on social media from your colleagues or shared with your networks.
